HELLO AND WELCOME to THIS, the website of PUNC,the Irish punk rock radio show! If you want to listen to the show, this isn't the right place for that: head over to the BELFIELD FM website and listen to the live feed at the time mentioned above, OR listen back on Belfield FM's Mixcloud. On this website, you'll find a list of past episodes (with track listings and show notes), news about the show, contact information for DJ MAL, and...eh...that's about it. Click around, I'm sure you'll find something interesting!
New to the site! DJ MAL's Winter Mixes!
UCD might have shut down for the winter, but PUNK ROCK NEVER STOPS! They might have stopped DJ MAL from going on the air but they can NEVER stop her from advocating for Irish punk music and the Irish punk scene! Pursuant to this, DJ MAL will be releasing at least two! two!!! playlists for her grateful public to enjoy - a Christmas playlist and a Best of Irish Punk 2021 Playlist. So don't worry, PUNCers - you're still going to get your fix! The Christmas playlist will arrive on the 23rd and the Best of....no earlier than December the 31st. Why do people ever release their end of year lists before then? You never know when some unexpected masterpiece is going to be unleashed onto the world.
I said it would be here on the 23rd - you get it on midnight on the 25th. Sorry! DJ MAL was asleep very, very busy. But it's here anyway - a bunch of Christmassy punk songs and punky Christmas songs. Dig in!
A merry christmas to you all. Unless you hate christmas, in which case you have my sympathies. Shoutout to the Adventures in Stereo show on Radioactive International, who have come up with the goods and provided a great Christmas show. And a honourable mention to Paranoid Visions, who provided maybe the ultimate Irish punk Christmas statement with their album Bollox To Christmas. If they'd stuck the album up on Spotify then Drunken Merry Xmas might have ended up on the playlist...
Check the about page for more information about the show and DJ MAL. Below, find the GETTING INVOLVED FAQ, with information about getting involved with the show.
GETTING INVOLVED FAQ
Q: HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
A: The main way you can get involved is by sending us stuff to put in the show.
Q:...WHAT KIND OF STUFF?
A: Almost anything. Send us your new song, send us your demo, send us a live recording of your band - but we don't just want songs or demos, although PLEASE send us those. DJ MAL is willing to play almost any audio and read out almost any text you send in, be it a song request, a news item, a poem, a description of a dream you once had, questions you have for the DJ...knock yrselves out. As circumstances evolve there might be specific competitions, drives and events for you to get involved in, but for now it's open season.
Q: HOW DO I SEND YOU STUFF TO PUT IN THE SHOW?
A: In general, if you want to send in an audio file, send an e-mail to DJ MAL via the address on the contact page. Song requests and news items can also be sent via e-mail OR via our Mastodon account (see the contact page again). DJ MAL will have Mastodon open during the show so if you want to send in any live questions or comments, you can do so there.
Q: WHAT FORMAT SHOULD I SEND STUFF IN?
A: If it's text, I don't mind so long as it's readable. Something I can copy and paste is handy for when I'm doing show notes. If it's audio, I get a little bit more finicky: music or other audio should be, if possible, in a lossless format (like FLAC) and as high fidelity as you can manage. There's no point in Belfield FM having all this nice equipment, or you having those nice speakers on your computer, if we play nothing but mucky MP3s ;-).
...That's all for now, folks! Bookmark this page and keep checking back for updates!
