PUNC has been a website, a radio show and a fanzine.
PUNC has been broadcast intermittently since 2021.
PUNC has been broadcast on Belfield FM, Near FM and (a one-off special) Dublin Digital Radio.
October 2021-December 2022: first series of PUNC is broadcast on Belfield FM. Shows are 40 minutes long due to Covid restrictions.
January 2022-April 2022: second series of PUNC is broadcast on Belfield FM. Show goes up to an hour and we start doing interviews, including with Jim Donaghey, Pete Holidai and Andy Beck from the London Celtic Punks.
June 2022: first issue of the PUNC fanzine is published while Belfield FM is closed for the summer. Further issues are published in August and November 2022.
October-December 2022: PUNC returns to Belfield FM for another series. Interviewees include PA Jones from Paranoid Visions, Eddie from the Nilz and Professor Harry Browne (author of The Frontman: Bono (In the Name of Power)).
December 2022: PUNC wins Best Returning Show at the BFMies, Belfield FM's internal awards. I have the certificate around here somewhere.
February-April 2023: PUNC returns for what we don't know will be our last series on Belfield FM. Interviewees include punk photographer Al Fartukh and an organizer from Trans and Intersex Pride Ireland.
Spring 2023: DJ MAL takes the Women on the Mic course via Near FM.
January 2024:the PUNC zine returns.
January-September 2024: PUNC returns on a new station, Near FM, as The PUNC Report. Interviewees include Dublin punk band ADH, Cork emo drag queen Boo Boo Oopsie and Drogheda Zine Fair organiser Rita Hynes. The show takes a hiatus in September that will last until 2026: DJ MAL is trying to finish her degree.
June 2024: Dublin Digital Radio broadcasts Aiteach Aerach Punchach with DJ MAL, a special programme about queer punk, as part of their Queering the Airwaves open call.
February 2026: PUNC returns on Near FM, and the future is unwritten....
